Compressed Gas Instead of Petrol
10.12.10
The number of vehicles using liquefied gas to increase five-fold by 2016.
By 2016 Uzbekistan plans to open 352 gas filling compressor stations, says Uzbekneftegaz press service.
135 gas filling compressor stations are now operating in different regions of Uzbekistan, built as a part of a program launched in 2007 to move road transport to liquefied and compressed gas consumption. Ten more are under construction.
The program is bolstered by the localization of production of certain spare parts, equipment and materials in the republic.
Today Uzbekneftegaz cooperates with South Korean KOGAS and KOLON companies on projects of production of automobile gas tanks at the territory of Navoi Free Industrial and Economic Zone, and construction of gas filling stations chain in the country. Till the end of 2010 the companies are planning to establish special joint ventures, the press service noted.
The total number of vehicles in Uzbekistan is 1,634,600 as of 1 January 2010. Seven percent of them run on liquefied gas, 8% use compressed one.
