Uzbekistan is actively developing alternative, gas fuel market.

Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan jointly with the Gazamir-pro and the Ecology Movement of Uzbekistan has organized a presentation of motor vehicles equipped with gas cylinders.

It was noted that the country has implemented big measures to saturate the domestic market with the fuel and energy resources, provided oil refining, natural gas and gas condensate production, increased production of liquefied gas. Economic growth followed by an increase in the number of vehicles leads to an increase in demand for automotive fuels, including liquefied and compressed gas. Gas fuel in Uzbekistan, like other gas producing countries, is becoming an alternative to gasoline and diesel fuel. The main factor is efficiency and environmental friendliness.

As part of a resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers on measures to develop a network of gas compressor and gas filling stations and on phased transfer of vehicles to liquefied and compressed natural gas, the republic is implementing a 2007-2012 program to boost the use of gaseous fuels for transportation. The liquefied gas filling stations offer propane-butane mixture, while compressed gas filling stations sells compressed natural gas.

Chief technologist at the Uzbek State Oil and Gas Inspection Mirsobit Abidov said in 2010 Uzbekistan build 28 liquefied gas stations and 68 compressed gas stations. Last year of liquefied gas tanks were installed to more than 11,200 vehicles, compressed gas tanks to 27,500 cars.

Gas fuel consumption is increasing. If in 2009 the cars consumed 259.6 million cubic meters of compressed natural gas and 198,500 tons of liquefied gas, in 2010 these figures were 443.9 million cubic meters and 232 thousand tons respectively. That is, consumption increased by 70% and 16%. In 2010, the national fleet of vehicles running on compressed natural gas for the first time surpassed the number of vehicles running on liquefied hydrocarbon gas.

The gas fuel market drives the demand for the equipment. The presentation demonstrated domestically assembled Spark, Matiz, Damas, as well as trucks of Samarqand automobile plant, equipped with LPG containers by Gazamir-PRO.
