Vehicles are added liquefied and hydrocarbon gas
14.02.08
Uzbekistan implements wide-scaled state programs on transforming a part of gasoline vehicles to liquefied gas and hydrocarbon gas ones.
The “Uzbekneftegas” National Holding Company informs the UT that in accordance with a governmental program 198 thousand vehicles are to be transformed from gasoline to the alternative fuel within six years. It is intended to extend this infrastructure to satisfy the demand of these vehicles for fuel. By 2012 Uzbekistan is to construct 138 auto gas compressor stations and 952 gas stations.
Taking into consideration the approximate 30-percent annual growth rate of vehicles in the country, it will make the share of liquefied gas and hydrocarbon gas vehicles 16-17%.
Uzbekistan has favorable conditions for using the alternative types of motor fuel, primarily, natural gas. Natural gas reserves of the country ranks fifth in the world and its integrated gas supply system will distribute natural gas across the country. Extension of auto gas compressor stations network will increase the internal methane consumption from 280 million to around 1 billion cubic meters per year.
Uzbekistan’s main liquefied gas deliverers are the Mubarek Gas Processing Plant, Shurtan Gas Chemical Complex, “Shurtanneftegas” and “Mubarekneftegas” unitary companies as well as Ferghana and Bukhara oil processing plants. The Propane butane is delivered to cars and railway transports.
In recent years Uzbekistan has paid much attention to utilization of petroleum gas and extraction of liquefied gas. For instance, the “Uzbekneftegas” launches projects on increasing liquefied gas production in the Mubarek Gas Processing Plant and Shurtan Gas Chemical Complex. The project implementation will grow liquefied gas production from 200 thousand tons in 2008 to 615 thousand tons by 2010. Total investment in these projects will exceed US$ 320 million by 2010. The Uzbek liquefied gas production allows satisfying not only the home market’s demand that will grow from 210 thousand tons in 2007 to 638 thousand tons by 2012 because of transition to the new fuel.
Staffs of gas stations think that entrepreneurs showed high interest in the alternative types of motor fuel after launching of liquefied gas sales in the Uzbek Commodity Exchange. A free access to this product will activate its consumption in the Republic.
